1. Overview
Signals (“Signals”, “we”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Signals, how and why we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and controls you have over it.
This policy applies to the Signals web application and to the data we access from your Instagram account through Meta’s APIs. By using Signals, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in three broad categories: information you provide directly, Instagram data you authorize us to access through Meta, and technical usage data generated as you use the product.
Information You Provide
When you create an account or interact with Signals, we may collect basic profile details such as your name or username, your email address, and account credentials where applicable. These are securely managed and used to identify you and to operate your account.
Instagram Data (via Meta APIs)
When you connect your Instagram account, we access data through Meta’s authorized APIs strictly within the scope you approve. This may include your media, such as posts and reels and related content, your captions and content metadata, engagement metrics such as likes, comments, views, and shares where available, and the basic account insights that Meta’s Platform APIs permit.
We only access data that you explicitly authorize through Meta’s OAuth consent flow, and we do not request permissions beyond what is necessary to provide your analytics.
Usage Data
As you use Signals, we automatically collect limited technical information such as which features you use, the pages you visit, your device and browser type, and log data used for debugging and performance monitoring. This helps us keep the product working reliably and understand where it can be improved.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect strictly to operate and improve Signals for you. Specifically, we use it to provide analytics and insights for your Instagram account, to generate performance reports and content recommendations, to improve product functionality and the overall user experience, and to maintain the security and reliability of the platform.
We do not use your data for unrelated purposes, and we do not use it to train external or publicly available AI models.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data or your Instagram content. We share data only in the limited circumstances necessary to run the service.
This may include trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, such as hosting, database, and monitoring providers; legal authorities where we are required by law to disclose information; and analytics tools that receive only aggregated or anonymized information. Any service provider we use is bound to handle your data in line with this policy.
5. Instagram / Meta Data Handling
Signals complies with the Meta Platform Terms and the Meta Developer Policies. We only access data that you have explicitly authorized, we do not store data beyond what is required to provide the product’s functionality, and we do not request permissions beyond the scope necessary for your analytics.
You remain in control of this connection. In addition to the account controls within Signals, you can review and revoke Signals’ access at any time from the “Apps and Websites” settings in your Instagram or Meta account.
6. Data Storage and Security
We implement reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Data is stored using trusted, industry-standard cloud infrastructure providers.
No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, however, and while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data only for as long as it is needed to provide the service to you, to comply with our legal obligations, and to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. While your account is active, we keep the Instagram content and metrics you have authorized so that we can generate and refresh your insights.
You can delete your data at any time by deleting your account from your account settings within Signals. Deleting your account permanently removes your stored data from our systems and revokes Signals’ access to your Instagram account through Meta, so no further data is retrieved. After deletion, we retain information only where the law requires it or as strictly necessary to resolve disputes, and residual copies in routine backups are overwritten in the ordinary course of operations.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You are in control of the data Signals holds about you. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold, to request its deletion, and to withdraw the Instagram access you previously granted.
In Signals, you exercise these rights primarily by deleting your account from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your stored data from our systems and, at the same time, removes Signals’ access to your Instagram account through Meta’s API. We do not offer inline editing to correct individual data points, because the Instagram content and metrics we display are read from Meta and reflect what is on your account; if that data is inaccurate or out of date, it updates on the next sync from Instagram, and you can always delete your account to remove it from Signals entirely.

9. Children’s Privacy
Signals is not intended for, or directed at, users under the age of 13, or the minimum age required in your country, whichever is higher. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under this age. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
10. Third-Party Services
Signals relies on third-party services to operate, including Meta’s Instagram Graph API, cloud hosting providers, and monitoring and analytics services. These providers process data only as needed to support Signals and operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. Signals is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta Platforms, Inc.
11. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our infrastructure and service providers operate. Where data is transferred across borders, we take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect it in accordance with applicable law.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we rely on, or legal requirements. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page and revise the effective date at the top. Your continued use of Signals after an update takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
