Terms of Service

Effective July 5, 2026

1. Overview

Signals (“Signals”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a web application that provides analytics, insights, and performance-tracking tools for social media creators. We connect to your Instagram account, read the content and metrics you authorize, and turn them into per-reel insights and recommendations.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Signals and govern your access to and use of the service. By accessing or using Signals, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to consent to the processing of personal data in your country, whichever is higher, to use Signals. If you are below the age of majority where you live, you may only use Signals with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

By using Signals, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide to us is accurate and complete.

3. Account Access

To use Signals, you connect your Instagram account through Meta’s Instagram Graph API. We do not ask for or store your Instagram password; access is granted and controlled entirely through Meta’s authorization system, and you can revoke it at any time.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of the account you use to sign in, for ensuring that your use of Signals complies with the Instagram Terms of Use and the Meta Platform Policies, and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization, you should notify us promptly.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for conduct that violates these Terms or any applicable platform policy, or where continued access would create a legal, security, or operational risk.

4. Use of Instagram Data and Third-Party APIs

Signals integrates with the Instagram Graph API provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. When you connect your account, you explicitly authorize Signals to access the Instagram data you have permission to share through Meta’s authorization flow, to retrieve media, captions, and engagement metrics as permitted by those APIs, and to store and process that data solely for the purpose of providing analytics and insights to you.

We only access data that you explicitly grant through Meta’s OAuth consent screen, and we do not access, request, or attempt to derive any data outside of that authorized scope. Your access to Instagram data through Signals is also subject to Meta’s own terms and policies, which may change independently of these Terms.

Signals is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Meta Platforms, Inc., and Instagram is a trademark of Meta.

5. Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of your Instagram content and data. Signals does not claim ownership over any of your user-generated content or over the Instagram data accessed through the API. The insights, reports, and recommendations that Signals generates are provided to you for your own use in growing and understanding your presence.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Signals only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms and all applicable platform policies. In particular, you agree that you will not:

  • Use the service for any unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or abusive purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, overload, or otherwise disrupt or interfere with the service or its infrastructure
  • Circumvent, disable, or attempt to bypass any API restriction, rate limit, or access control
  • Use Signals in any way that violates the Instagram Terms of Use or the Meta Platform Policies

7. Analytics and Improvements

To operate and improve Signals, we process the Instagram data you authorize together with aggregated, usage-level information about how the product is used. We use this to generate your analytics and insights, to improve product features and performance, and to debug issues and maintain the reliability of the platform.

We do not sell your personal data or your content, and we do not use your data to train external or publicly available AI models. Any automated processing we perform is in service of producing the analytics and recommendations you came to Signals for.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data only for as long as it is needed to provide the service to you. While your account is active, we store the Instagram content and metrics you have authorized so that we can generate and refresh your insights.

You are in control of this data at all times. You can delete your account directly from your account settings within Signals. Deleting your account permanently removes your stored data from our systems and revokes Signals’ access to your Instagram account through Meta, so we no longer retrieve any further data. This is the primary mechanism for both deleting your data and withdrawing Instagram API access.

After deletion, we may retain limited information only where we are legally required to do so, or as strictly necessary to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Residual copies in routine backups are overwritten in the ordinary course of operations.

9. Service Availability

We work to keep Signals available and accurate, but we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. Features may be added, changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time, and the service depends on third-party systems, such as Meta’s APIs, that are outside of our control.

10. Termination

You may stop using Signals and delete your account at any time. We may also suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if suspension or termination is required by law or by Meta Platform policies, or if your usage poses a security or operational risk to the service or to other users. Where reasonable and permitted, we will try to give you notice, but we may act immediately when necessary to protect the service.

11. Disclaimer

Signals is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The insights and recommendations Signals produces are informational and do not guarantee any particular result for your content or account.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Signals and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, for any loss of data, or for any issues caused by third-party services such as the Meta APIs, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the service, to the third-party platforms we rely on, or to legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Signals after an update takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
